Luke 6:46-49, “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”

I saw a bumper sticker once which read, “Home Improvement begins with the King James Bible”

Thought provoking words that we should all take heed to. Jesus speaking in Luke 6:46, said, “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Multitudes speak with such assurance of Jesus being Lord of their life, yet they do not consult Him in their family living. Homes are silent of the Bible being read, or instructed throughout the day. How can we do what Jesus says, if we are not reading His words?

Is your home on the rocks? Or is your home on the ROCK?

I. Your home and family needs to start with the right foundation!
1 Corinthians 3:11, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
A. Your foundation must begin with Jesus Christ. He needs to be the President, not just the resident. He needs to be honored in His rightful place

II. You need to Dig Deep!
Ephesians 3:17, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,”

Colossians 2:7, “Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
A. The deeper the roots, the stronger your family will be able to withstand the winds of adversity and floods of despair. Get off the rocks and get onto the Rock!

III. Start Building!
Psalms 127:1, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
A. We do not “partner” with The Lord….God is our OWNER, not partner.
I have full, complete confidence that The Lord Jesus Christ is the Rock…the ONLY Rock that will sustain the trials of life and family difficulties.
