At Marvelous Grace Girls Academy, September 02, 2017 at 3:00am, I was awaken by “something”. Not sure what woke me, I sat up on my bed with my feet firmly planted on the floor. Opening my eyes, I could not see a thing. Nothing! All was pitch black darkened. I looked around my room, waiting for my eyes to adjust to the dark, and I thought, “Have I lost my sight?” Had God taken my sight through the night? I rose up and headed for the bathroom in my bedroom and then I heard what had wakened me…by Son, Stonewall lightly knocking on my bedroom door. From underneath my door, I saw a faint light emitting from the hallway. When I opened the door, my Son filled me in… “The power is out over the entire property, Dad. And the fire alarm panel is sounding off with a high pitch beeping noise.”
I knew from experience what to do. I present to you, “What To Do When The Power Goes Out”
John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Acts 6:8, “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.”
(Living and Serving Power)
Several observations should be noted:
1. The Power at MGGA went out at an inconvenient time
2. The Power at MGGA went out without any known reason. There were no storms, no wind, no known reason.
3. I knew what to do, because I have been through this before.
In our life, we seem to live and serve God with the unction of The Holy Ghost. The sky is brilliant blue, the grass is gloriously green, and the birds seem to be singing “Victory in Jesus”. We are very confident of our personal relationship with Jesus, and things are going well.
It seems as though the “Power Goes Out”. Not that we lost our Salvation, but, that we have lost touch with God, or lost connection. Things go black. Our perception and vision is marred. Even our thoughts are haphazard and tainted with doubt and dread.
The power “goes out” at an inconvenient time. It has gone out without any known reasons…yet, I know what to do, because of past experience.
I. Don’t Panic
Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
A. It would not have done me any good to panic during our power outage. In fact, it may have created turbulence if I panicked and got all 35 girls and staff members up out of bed and placed them on 911 alert!
B. Spiritually speaking, when our spiritual power flickers and goes out, do not panic. Take confidence that God is in control. He was real yesterday, and even though I cannot feel or sense Him today, does not mean that He is not here with me.
II. Make Sure of Your Security
John 10:28, “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
A. Here at MGGA, the fire alarm panel was sounding off with a warning that the power had gone out and it was now on back up battery power. From past experience, I knew what button to push to silence this warning alarm.
B. Spiritually speaking, we need to silence our warning alarm and know that we are secure in Christ forever! We are not a lost soul, we are God’s child. He saved me for all eternity and I know that I am saved.
III. Have Back Up Lights
John 1:9, “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
Romans 2:19, “And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,”
Romans 13:12, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”
A. My Son had already lit candles and had flashlights in his hands. He knew where to find these back up lights, and how to implement them for our need of the hour.
B. Spiritually speaking, let us rely on past faith experiences in which we remember the light of The Lord shining brightly through us. We were highly confident in Jesus to shine through us.
When we recall past experiences of faith and service, we can implement them in our hearts and minds to encourage us that He can do it again!
IV. Call on The One Who Can Do Something About The Power Outage
Psalms 34:6, “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”
Jeremiah 33:3, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
A. I had the number of our local Electric Power Company on memory dial! One touch of a button, and I was in contact with the one who can help us restore the power!
B. Spiritually speaking, we need do nothing less than call upon the Great I Am, The Lord Jesus Christ! God can do something about our Loss of Power!
C. I was so thankful to hear that my local Electric Power Company already knew about the outage! Then confidence and peace swept my soul when I heard them tell me, “We already have workers dispatched and working on resolving the Power Outage”
GLORY! GLORY! GLORY!
The Lord already knows about your power outage, and He already has His workers dispatched to restore your loss of power!
If I can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me. I may be able to help you, however, I cannot help you if you do not contact me.
