“I feel like a failure!”
This is a common statement we hear over the phone when parents call seeking help for their daughter. Mom…Dad…you are NOT a failure!
You love your daughter, but, love doesn’t seem to be enough. You try to talk to her, to help her, to counsel her, instruct her and much more. Yet, it seems that she gets more angry at you…more detached from you…even seems like she HATES you and even offended at you!!
YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!
Jesus knows all about this. Matthew 13:57, “And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.”
John 1:11, “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.”
Know that Christ understands personally how you feel. I want you to rest assured, your daughter will come to herself. She may be misguided and misaligned with you…but, she will come around. There is just so much bombarding her in her mind. Just getting through the teenage years is tough altogether. Adding insult to injury, what she is hearing from Tik Tok, Youtube, Facebook, et. al., is taxing on her mind. As a result, her emotions are running rampant and she doesn’t exactly know how to handle all of it.
Be patient, and trust The Lord through this season. This too will pass. She most likely knows she needs help and even wants help, but she could feel that her peers will perceive her to be weak and even “not cool”.
Rest assured, Mom and Dad…YOU ARE NOT FAILURES.
